Hi everyone,
When I first joined the European Solidarity Corps alongside SAJC (Širvintų atviras jaunimo centras), I never imagined the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences that awaited me. Now, as I prepare to say goodbye to this amazing project, it's time to share the profound impact it has had on me, as a person, and as a citizen of the world.
Every single moment of this journey has been significant in Lithuania for me. From making new friends and sharing smiles to the challenges faced at the youth center, each experience has helped me to grow and learn. Whether it was exploring Lithuania or traveling abroad, having late-night chats at home or in bars, walking countless kilometers, or visiting museums, churches, and parks, what truly brings me joy is the friendships I've formed and the happiness we've shared.
I've come to believe more and more that real wealth lies in people, empathy, and compassion. I've learned the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges in order to learn more about myself, and in this case, about the young people who will shape the future.
This project not only left a profound impact on me, an impact that transcends borders and cultures but also gave me a deeper understanding of the world around me. Sometimes in life we need to take risks and trying new things, this can lead to remarkable experiences. Recently, I heard a phrase that really resonated with me, "The magic you're looking for is often found in the things you've been avoiding."
I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made this journey possible. To my colleagues, mentors, and all the staff at the center, thank you from the bottom of my heart
As I say goodbye to this project, I take away more than just memories and lessons. I now see life differently and appreciate everything that life has to offer. I'll miss it, but I leave with a sense of achievement. To anyone unsure about volunteering, I say give it a try. You never know, it might be as life-changing for you as it has been for me.
