Hello everybody! My name is Dominykas, i am 19 years old from Lithuania and now i’m volunteer in Turkey for two months. My hobbies are music, I love playing guitar, learning how to play the piano, I love reading books and sport is my life, for example gym and equestrian. Nice to meet you everybody!

My journey started in Vilnius January 17. From Vilnius to Warsaw and from Warsaw to Ankara. From the beginning i was so excited, because it was my first time how i flew with plane and when we was almost near airport, from sky i so all city, it was wonderful. We came to the center of Ankara. Center calls Kizilay. Place has thousands of cafes, restaurants and shops. Every day Kizilay looks like an event. From my dorm to Kizilay it takes 15 mins by bus and the office where I work is near. On the second day in Turkey, we were exploring Ankara. We went to Ankara's castle, which has a wonderful view from the top. People for was very nice. The most unbelievable experience for me this month was when we went to a mosque. Near us came an imam and we were speaking about religion. After that he said that he can give us books, but first he has a gift for us. We went to the minaret and inside the minaret was a lift, already we were in shock, that minaret has a lift. At first we were thinking that we were going to the library or something like that, but when the lift doors opened we said omg. Because it was not the library but the balcony of the minaret and we saw the whole city in the evening. It was cold but in this altitude nothing really matters. But when we needed to come back to the mosque we broke the lift, and we needed to go back with stairs, which at a time was  not ending. So it was the most incredible moment in this month. But if I needed to tell you the second thing which was incredible, it's Hatay city. Why its so special for me? Because Hatay has very beautiful mountains and sea, it was my first time swimming in the sea. Someone can ask what I was doing in Hatay, our team was sended to collect oranges. One year back in Hatay there was an earthquake.

For me, the hardest thing it's to communicate with local people, not so many people speak in english. But we have Turkish language lessons once a week and with this everyday it's become easier and easier to communicate with local people. The Turkish language for me is hard, but everything is possible to learn if you want. I know enough to introduce myself and ask for coffee in a cafe. Turkish has a different religion than Lithuania. Lithuania is christians and Turkish is muslims. For me it is strange that a mosque invites people 5 times a day to pray. 5 times a day you can hear the imam singing from the mosque. Turkish people are very religious. And of course I learned so many new things. Meeting new people from different countries, learning about this wonderful country, her history and language.

This is my life now in Turkey. I'm very happy that I came here. Turkey is such a unique country. Which every person must visit. And now I need to say cya because I must prepare my items for my trip to Istanbul. Bye bye

P.S I love Baklava. With best wishes Dominykas!
