In a world often divided by borders and boundaries, there exists a profound opportunity to bridge the gaps that separate us and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that define our global community. Our volunteers from Širvintos Youth Center embarked on a mission to ignite curiosity, foster understanding, and promote empathy through a series of cultural presentations at high schools and primary schools. Our journey was not merely a lesson in geography or history; it was a voyage of discovery, where the exchange of ideas and traditions became the currency of connection.
Yet, the journey of our volunteers was not without its challenges. Language barriers, cultural nuances, and logistical hurdles tested our resolve at every turn. Yet, in overcoming these obstacles, we discovered the true essence of cultural exchange: the willingness to embrace discomfort, to bridge divides, and to forge connections that transcend borders.

If you want to get to know about one country, you should learn about their cultural dances. Learning “Damat Halayı” and “Yallı” was so much fun for students. To make it even more fun, Musninkai students taught Lithuanian traditional dance “Kiaulė Grikiuos“. After doing many interesting activities, drinking one cup of Azerbaijani tea was a great decision.

On March 14, our volunteers visited Širvintų rajono Musninkų Alfonso Petrulio gimnazija to have an interactive culture representation day. Meeting 6th and 7th grade students were a lot of fun and challenging. Starting with an energizing name game was very engaging. Our volunteers divided students into 3 groups to start their activities. Each group of students was presenting one country respectively: Azerbaijan, Portugal and Türkiye. Each group had to write what they know about countries on the paper in a certain time and present it.

It was a bit hard task for students, but they completed successfully. Kerem, Aydan and João had presentation about their countries which were informative for all students. Learning about cultural dances is the most interesting part for all students. Learning Turkish, Azerbaijani and Portuguese dances were entertaining and helped our volunteers to get connected to the students better.
