Lithuania Diaries: A December to Remember

Here comes my december in Lithuania. I can't believe how times flies so fast.

As usual, we always go to Gelvonai on Wednesdays and Musninkai on Thursdays. However, we couldn't go there on this month since our tutor was on leave. We only went there twice I guess.

We gave them one task that they needed to create a building together by using cardboards, magazines, pens, pencils. They had to decide what this building was and who lived this building together. The aim of this activity was to teach how to act together in a team and how to unite within a team. In the end, they decided to create a happy jail for quers.

Also I had an amazing activity for our English Speaking Club which was called "Wheel of Fortune". As you can see in the photo, it was written an english words on the white board. The participants spinned the wheel and if they guessed the correct alphabeth in the board, they had the points that they spinned. However, they needed to be careful as they lost their all points if they spinned zero points in the wheel.

There was a training course about Coaching and Leadership in Sirvintos and Kerem and I were logistic team as a volunteer in this course. We prepared breakfast and brunch for them anf we helped them while they wee doing the activities. One day participants went to high school in Musninkai in order to present their projects about coaching and leadership that they learned in the course time. As a volunteer in the course, we were with them to help. After that we went to our youth center with the participants and facilitators. We showed them the youth center and explained what we were doing usually.

In my free time, we went to Vilnius with our tutor Jelena, our coordinator Zivile, our mentor Agne to play bowling together. It was memorable moment for me. We spent a good time together. I had never played bowling before so It was a nice experience.

Also I went to see "the biggest rock" which is called Barstyčiai stone. I laughed so much when I saw the rock because we can see bigger rock in Turkey everywhere but still I am glad that I went to Anykščiai. There were good restaurants and cafes.

This was my first new year celebration in Europe. I was with Hazar, Kerem and a new guy that we met on the Cathedral square. There was a countdown in the square and we were sitting in a bar not to get cold since the outside was freezing. We were thinking that we could be in the square in time that we could join countdown. But we realised that we were running out of time so we literally decided to run to go to square. In the end, we couldn't be there in time and we were middle in a street and we hugged each other and danced in the street. Later we went to square and I took this amazing photo. The square was so crowded and there was a light show with the help of an amazing music! As December bids farewell, my time in Lithuania has left me with cherished memories, new experiences, and the warmth of shared moments.  Here's to the beauty of exploration and the joy found in the unexpected. Looking forward to the adventures that the coming days hold. Cheers to the journey!
